Communications Associate
Families USA, the national organization for health care consumers, is looking for a communications associate to join its communications team. The media associate will manage and further develop Families USA’s story bank project, a unique and powerful tool that allows the communications department to collect, document and share real life stories with the media, elected officials, and others in an effort to promote the need for health care reform.
Responsibilities include creating and implementing a strategic Story Bank development plan, building relationships with other organizations and advocates to further outreach for stories, training others to use Story Bank database, working with members of the communications team to fulfill incoming story requests, and managing interns as it relates to story banking efforts. In addition, the communications associate will be responsible for handling logistics for press events and teleconference briefings, maintaining departmental calendar and other departmental administrative duties.
The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years experience in issue advocacy, communications, or media outreach and a strong interest in health policy. We are looking for someone that has experience dealing one on one with sensitive personal stories. Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills are required.
