Orient & Train
Training is an essential component of a SHIP volunteer program and varies widely among the SHIP network depending on the demands and resources of a SHIP. New volunteers are exposed to an initial training program that covers a wide range of Medicare-related topics, while tenured volunteers may have ongoing training expectations that consists of both knowledge and skills-based information. More than 75% of programs require their counselors to complete a certification program.
