State Reports, September-October 2011
From Families USA, in partnership with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), the American Diabetes Association, and the American Lung Association.
Medicaid, the state and federally funded health insurance program for low-income people, covers millions of Americans. It helps children get a healthy start in life. It helps seniors and people with disabilities who need long-term care. It also helps those with serious health conditions get the care they need. For all of these individuals, Medicaid coverage can truly be the difference between life and death.
To get a sense of how important Medicaid is for people with serious health care needs, these reports look at the number of individuals in each state with cancer, diabetes, chronic lung disease, or heart disease or stroke who rely on Medicaid for their health coverage.
These state reports are being released from September 14 through October 6. Please check back if your state is not available.
