Medicare Regulations Comments Project

September 2005 - The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has published proposed regulations for the new prescription drug benefit and HMO changes required under the new Medicare law. These regulations—which are around 2,000 pages long—spell out crucial details about how the new law will operate. Click here to view the proposed regulations.

Families USA worked with a coalition of 93 consumer organizations to draft comprehensive comments on these proposed regulations, which will determine how the Medicare drug benefit is implemented in 2006. The group, known as the Medicare Consumers Working Group, submitted its comments on October 4, 2004.

Title I

Title II

  • Click here for draft comments on the Title II (Medicare Advantage—Medicare+Choice and other managed care issues) regulations developed by Families USA, with assistance from colleagues at the Center for Medicare Advocacy, Inc. and the Medicare Rights Center, not by the groups described on this page. Families USA submitted these comments separately. Anyone is welcome to copy or use these comments for their own submissions. (Updated 10/04/04)
