The Road Show Returns to Florida March 23, 2004 Century Village East in Deerfield Beach, FL hosted the second Medicare Road Show event in Florida on March 23, 2004. The auditorium was filled with nearly 300 seniors who came to learn all of the details about the new Medicare law from Congressman Robert Wexler (D-19), Carolyn Dorman, Coordinator of SEIU 1199 Florida Retirees, and Bill Vaughan, Families USA's Director of Government Affairs. Participants watched "Navigating the New Medicare Drug Law," the video produced by Families USA and hosted by Walter Cronkite.
Each attendee received information about the law and a Medicare Road Show button to wear proudly throughout their communities. Many of the seniors requested additional information to share with their friends and neighbors who could not make it to the event. Members of the Florida Transplant Survivors Coalition, Inc. also attended the event and talked about the activities in which they are participating to effect change. Congressman Wexler, Ms. Dorman, and Bill Vaughan urged the seniors to speak out about what they do not like about the new Medicare law and to take action. The crowd left energized and ready to fight!
