Second Stop on the Medicare Road Show March 15, 2004 Little Rock, Arkansas Over seventy seniors attended the Medicare Road Show event in Little Rock, Arkansas, on March 15. They had many questions and were anxious to see the video hosted by veteran journalist Walter Cronkite.
Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR); Congressman Marion Berry (D-1), the only licensed pharmacist in Congress and co-chair of the House Prescription Drug Task Force; Congressman Vic Snyder (D-2), a family physician; and Congressman Mike Ross (D-4), the only pharmacy owner in Congress; joined Families USA's Senior Policy Analyst, Dee Mahan, in Little Rock. The elected officials assured the audience that they would focus their efforts on changing the new Medicare prescription drug law. Seniors laughed as Congressman Berry told them about the old wives tale that rubbing a Buckeye in your hands cures ailments. He jokingly told the audience that they have a better chance of securing their health with a Buckeye than with the new Medicare law. The room roared with laughter and applause. |
