The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is the federal law that helps protect your rights to health coverage when you move from one health plan to another health plan. To understand how HIPAA affects you, please select the category below that best describes your current situation.

(NOTE: Before you check, you should consult the Definitions section for more details. For example, the group coverage protections may not apply to some government workers or church employees.)
