Interfaith Service of Witness and Prayer
Mark Your Calendars! Wednesday, June 24, 2009 is not your regular hump day.
In view of our nation’s Capitol, thousands will gather at Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC to proclaim the moral imperative of health care for all. The event is an Interfaith Service of Witness and Prayer, and is part of the larger Interfaith Week of Witness and Prayer for Health Care, June 19-26.
Confirmed speakers for the service include:
- Rabbi David Saperstein, Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism
- Dr. Sayyid Syeed, Islamic Society of North America
- Rev. Dr. James Forbes, Jr., Riverside Church, New York City
The largest faith-based mobilization around health care reform is underway as religious leaders gather under the theme “We Believe Together,” so mark your calendars:

“Echo Events” all across the country will engage advocates who care deeply about this issue but are not able to travel to Washington. Prayer breakfasts, Health Care Sabbaths, sermon contests, vigils, call-in days, media events, and more will give people of faith the opportunity to make a public witness about the moral imperative of health care for all. Individuals and congregations are urged to plan Echo Events or find activities near them in which they can participate.
