Dee Mahan - Director of Medicaid Advocacy
Dee Mahan is the Director of Medicaid Advocacy at Families USA, a national nonprofit organization that promotes policies designed to ensure that all Americans have access to affordable, high-quality health care. Her work focuses on federal and state Medicaid issues, including budget issues at the state and federal levels, and she works with advocates across the country to ensure that states take up and effectively implement the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion. Prior to her current position, Ms. Mahan directed Families USA’s Global Health Initiative, and, before that, she played a key role in the organization’s Medicare and prescription drugs policy work. She is the author of numerous policy papers, fact sheets, and issue briefs.
Before she joined Families USA, Ms. Mahan was a partner with Lash Group health care consulting firm, where her clients included academic medical centers, community hospitals, and major medical technology companies, including pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and medical device manufacturers. Ms. Mahan has a J.D. and a post-graduate degree in Health Care Administration, both from George Washington University.
