Presidential Candidates’ Health Proposals:
Where the Candidates Stand on Issues of
Dear Colleague: Health care is one of the most critical domestic issues in this year's presidential campaign. It is of particular concern to Hispanics, who continue to receive lower quality health care, who are less likely to be covered by health insurance, and who suffer from more illnesses than white non-Hispanics. Hispanics, therefore, have a vested interest in understanding the likely impact of the health care proposals of both President Bush and Senator Kerry. Families USA developed Presidential Candidates' Health Proposals: Implications for the Hispanic Community with input from the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund (NALEO). This publication uses a minority health lens to analyze the candidates' proposals on the several pressing health care issues. We hope it provides you with background material to enhance your election coverage, especially as it relates to the concerns of Hispanic voters. For media inquiries or to schedule interviews, please contact Geraldine Henrich, press secretary at Families USA, at 202-628-3030 or ghenrich@familiesusa.org.
