Anne Dunkelberg of Texas Is Recognized for Her Work Improving Texas Health Policy and Health Care Finance

Dunkelberg Receives Consumer Health Advocate of the Year Award

Washington, D.C. - Families USA, the national organization for health care consumers, presented Anne Dunkelberg with the Consumer Health Advocate of the Year Award at the annual Families USA Health Action conference. The award, presented every year since 1998, recognizes outstanding contributions on behalf of our nation's health care consumers.

The award was presented to Ms. Dunkelberg for her tireless commitment and service to improving health policy. Dunkelberg has worked in the health care industry in various capacities since 1987. She began as a research analyst for the Texas Research League, where she worked on policy research projects and issues for Texas state health and human services agencies. She continued her career as the Program Director for the Texas State Medicaid office. In September, she became the Assistant Director at the Center for Public Policy Priorities in Austin.

Dunkelberg stays involved in important health care issues in her personal life as well. She is affiliated with several organizations, including Covering Kids & Families Eligibility Policy Working Group, a part of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the National Academy for State Health Policy, and the Governor’s Medicaid Reform Workgroup.

Dunkelberg attended the University of Texas at Austin where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree, and where she later received her master’s degree in Public Affairs.
