Children’s Health Care Ad Campaign Takes Aim at President’s Veto

Ad Campaign Is Part of Mobilization to Override President’s Veto of Children’s Health Coverage Bill

Washington, D.C. – Families USA, the national organization for health care consumers, today launched a new ad campaign to mobilize opposition to the President’s veto of the children’s health care bill. The ad is part of a broad mobilization to make sure that the bipartisan bill is enacted into law.

The ad has an ironic twist: It involves children who are eligible for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and who are potentially harmed by the President’s veto expressing their personal admiration of the President. The ad then indicates what the President has done to harm these children.

“Even though the American people overwhelmingly support the children’s health bill, the President has decided to veto it,” said Ron Pollack, Executive Director of Families USA. “We intend to make sure that the public knows what the President has done and holds members of Congress accountable if they vote to sustain this irresponsible veto.”

The ad will run on CNN, Fox, and MSNBC starting this week. It will also be distributed broadly online via blogs and Web sites across the country. Within minutes of the President’s veto, the ad was already prominently featured on major blogs.
