Speaker Pelosi’s Action to Speed Passage of Enhanced FMAP Funding Is ‘Wise, Timely, Essential’
The following is the statement of Kathleen Stoll, Deputy Executive Director of Families USA, in response to the announcement by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi that she will call the U.S. House back into session to pass a six-month increase in federal Medicaid funding, voted on by the Senate on Wednesday.
“Families USA applauds the prompt decision of Speaker Pelosi to call House members back into session to speed the passage of a six-month extension of increased federal Medicaid funding.
“This funding is critical for two major reasons. In the current economic climate, more and more families depend on Medicaid for their health care needs, and a funding extension helps ensure that state budgets can meet these needs. In addition, this increased funding to states helps protect jobs and serves as additional stimulus to state economies.
“This action by the Speaker is wise, timely, and essential for millions of Americans.”
