Statement on Senate Votes on the Affordable Care Act
The U.S. Senate today voted on an amendment to the Affordable Care Act that would eliminate the income reporting requirements of small businesses on IRS Form 1099. The Senate also held a procedural vote on repeal of the law. The following is the statement of Ron Pollack, Executive Director of Families USA, on today’s Senate votes:
“Senators today approved a bipartisan amendment to the Affordable Care Act to ease the paperwork burden on small businesses, while at the same time rejecting the destructive backward step of repealing the law. The Senate votes were a triumph of common sense over political showmanship.”
