Adam Searing Recognized by President Obama for His Achievements as a Leading Health Care Advocate

Searing Selected as "Champion of Change" by the White House

Washington, D.C.—Adam Searing, Families USA’s Consumer Health Advocate of the Year for 2012, has been selected by the White House as a “Champion of Change.”

“Champions of Change,” part of President Obama’s “Winning the Future” initiative, recognizes American individuals and organizations for their work in creating positive change in their communities. Searing was selected for his outstanding work with the North Carolina Justice Center, where he has been a leader in fighting for consumer rights and educating North Carolinians about the benefits of the Affordable Care Act.

Searing is one of just 10 people selected by the White House for the award.

“We recognized early on that Adam was a truly extraordinary champion for health care equality,” said Ron Pollack, Executive Director of Families USA. “We are constantly in awe of Adam’s innovative approach to consumer advocacy.

“Adam is a fierce defender of health care consumers, and we are absolutely thrilled that the White House shares our high opinion of Adam’s efforts on behalf of the people of North Carolina,” Pollack said.

Searing was nominated as a “Champion of Change” by Families USA. He has served as Director of the North Carolina Health Access Coalition since 1997.
