Compromise Norwood-Dingell Bill Would Establish Real Patient Protections
The Ball Is Now in the House Leadership's Hands
Statement of Ron Pollack, Executive Director of Families USA: "The Norwood-Dingell Bipartisan Patient Protection Legislation would establish real protections for consumers in managed care plans. It is now up to the Leadership in the House of Representatives to bring this compromise bill to the floor of the House for a vote. "Representative Dingell and Representative Norwood have been able to do what their colleagues in the Senate failed to do, put aside partisan politics to come up with managed care legislation that protects consumers, not managed care plans. "Representatives from both sides of the aisle have joined Dingell and Norwood in support of this important legislation and it is clear the bill has the votes to pass. It is now up to the Leadership in the House. Will they bring to the floor the consensus legislation sponsored by Republicans and Democrats? Or will they continue to put the interests of the managed care industry before the interests of American consumers?"
