Governor Blagojevich’s “All Kids” Plan
Effort Will Ensure Every Child in Illinois Has Access to Comprehensive
Yesterday, the Illinois General Assembly approved the “All Kids” plan after the state Senate approved the legislation on Wednesday. The following is the statement of Ron Pollack, Executive Director of Families USA, about the Governor’s plan:
“The 'All Kids' plan is a historic initiative and a great step forward for families throughout the state of Illinois. Governor Blagojevich’s plan makes Illinois the first state in the country to provide comprehensive health care coverage to every child.
“The Governor’s plan would extend help to the 253,000 children who are currently uninsured. Most of these families with uninsured children earn too much to qualify for public health programs but still not enough to afford private health insurance. Unfortunately, this is a problem faced by millions of working families across the country, so we congratulate Governor Blagojevich for looking out for the children of his state.
“The 'All Kids' plan will not only help children and families in Illinois, but it could also become a model for other states across the country.”
