  • The American Public Human Services Association Web page provides links to state social service and human service agencies. Beneath the map, there is also a list of state human services agencies and links.
  • The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) is a nonprofit association that represents the public health agencies of each of the U.S. states and territories. The association is engaged in a wide range of legislative, scientific, educational, and programmatic issues and activities on behalf of public health.
  • Children in the States is a section of the Children's Defense Fund's Web site that gives the most up-to-date children's data available on a uniform basis.
  • The National Academy of State Health Policy is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to helping states achieve excellence in health policy and practice. 
  • The National Association of Counties ensures that the nation's 3,066 counties are heard and understood in the White House and the halls of Congress.
  • The National Conference of State Legislatures is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues.
  • The National Governors Association is the collective voice of the nation's governors and one of Washington, D.C.'s, most respected public policy organizations.
  • State Health Facts Online, a web resource launched by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation offers comprehensive health policy information for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The site offers information on more than 200 topics, including population demographics, managed care, Medicaid, Medicare, and minority health. It allows users to view information for a single state or to compare and rank data across multiple states and compare it to U.S. totals.
  • To focus attention on state health policies, The Commonwealth Fund established a State Innovations program. It is hoped that the program will help states look to each other for ideas and that innovations in some states will inspire others to follow, as well as spur federal action.
