Congressional Republicans have declined President Obama’s invitation to release an alternative health reform bill before the February 25th health reform summit. However, there are a number of ideas that Republicans have promoted repeatedly in the past that are likely to be brought up at the summit. Taken together, these ideas fail to address the key concerns of American businesses and families. Rather than ensuring stability of care and giving Americans peace of mind about their health care, these proposals move our health care system in the wrong direction, shifting more of the burden of risk to individuals and employers and allowing insurers to reap even greater gains.
