Families USA and Leading Civil Rights and Health Care Advocacy Groups Release New Report for More Inclusive Health Care

07.16.2026

A national coalition of nine leading civil rights and health care advocacy groups, including Families USA, has released a report, “Seamless, Accountable and Fair: A Civil Rights Agenda for Reconstructing Insurance Affordability Programs.” The report provides a civil rights agenda for expanding access to health coverage for as many individuals as possible, particularly in communities of color, by restructuring programs such as the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid.

According to projections from the Congressional Budget Office, substantial cuts to health care under the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act and the failure to extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits could result in nearly 15 million people becoming uninsured by 2034. The report estimates that 60% of those newly uninsured will come from communities of color.
