Families USA Submits Comments on Patients First Act RFI

Families USA submitted a response to Representatives John Joyce, Greg Murphy, and Kim Schrier’s Request for Information (RFI) inviting stakeholders to provide insights and suggestions to improve the Patients First Act. Families USA has long supported efforts to strengthen primary care and improve the accuracy and predictability of physician reimbursement. We support the bill’s hybrid primary care payment model, however express concerns that the majority of the bill serves to increase physician reimbursement without the more fundamental, structural changes to physician payment needed to move away from broken fee-for-service payment incentives. Our comments offer several suggestions that we believe would better center the needs of patients and consumers in physician payment reform efforts.
