04.28.2026
Consumers for Fair Hospital Pricing and allied organizations submitted this statement for the record to the Ways & Means Committee ahead of their April 28 hearing with health system CEOs. The statement is signed by over 50 organizations representing consumers, employers, and workers from around the country who are urging Congress to hold large health systems accountable for their anticompetitive behaviors and the misaligned incentives that are driving up costs for families.
The statement also lays out a commonsense agenda for the Committee that prioritizes health care affordability for American families and holds corporate health systems accountable for charging excessive prices, including policy solutions that improve price transparency, address site of service payment differentials, and ban anticompetitive contracting terms that limit patient access.
In addition to the consumer advocacy organizations that make up Consumers for Fair Hospital Pricing, the statement is also signed by a diverse group of leading national organizations including AFSCME, Doctors for America, HCAN, the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions, Network Lobby for Catholic Social Justice, and Small Business Majority.
